Beach Measurements

You measure the beach profile with a set of measuring rods one has a level on the top and the other is scaled off to measure the vertical drop.

This picture shows the methos used to measure the beach sand levels. One person stands nearest the cliff and the other 5 meters away each holds rod, the rod nearest the cliff has height marks in meters on it. The other rod has a leveling sight so you can see a level line to the other rod. Essentially you are measuring the drop from one poin to the next.

Above picture: The person on the left holds the rod still and the person on the right sights down the level and reads the vertical drop off of the rod on the left.

This picture just shows people doing what we explained in the last picture.

Above picture: Here’s the view from the person reading the measurement off of the scale. You can almost read the drop on this.

This picture shows a closeup of the rod with the meauring centimeter marks on it.

Above picture: Here’s a close-up of a leveled sight and opposite rod.
